Description :A warehouse. It wasn't so cliche'd when I
started making it in December. This is my first

The warehouse is split into three large sections, and has four proper rooms as well. It was originally one big room, but this turned out to be far to slow. The r_speeds are still a little high in places, but I couldn't reduce them without affecting gameplay quit dramatically.

Each of the four rooms has a function in the level, and I think it helps if a little explanation is given about each.

The biggest room is the fan room, which has a lever in it to start the fan (surprisingly). Once the fan is started, air (and anything else) is sucked through the ducts towards the fan. The fan fuel slowly drops until it runs out, at which point the fan will stop. It cannot be restarted until the fuel level is up to maximum again.

The security station houses the override switch for the warehouse defences. Activating this switch will (normally) close the station door, turn off the lights in the main warehouse, activate the gun turrets and open the weapon locker. See the control room description for when this won't happen.

The observation room has a device in it for activating the security cameras in the level. When you activate the screen in the room, the claw-like structure on the wall will curve round you, keeping you reasonably safe whilst the security scan runs. Once started, you cannot interrupt the scan (I couldn't find a solution to this, hence the claws). Sometimes the security cameras will not show the correct view, but instead one of a blank wall with a crate at the bottom. I
think this is to do with the way cameras work in half-life. As far as I can work out, you must have visited the room to be viewed before the view will work. The first view is behind the grey door underneath the observation room. Make sure you are standing in the bottom U-shape before activating, or the claws will not close properly.

The last room is the control room, and only has one button. Once pressed, a cover slides down and the light above turns red. Whilst the light is red, anyone pressing the override switch in the security station will close the door and activate a set of gun turrets inside the station instead. The light in the control room will go green for a while before the button can be pressed again, so if you time it right you will be able to activate the override switch safely.

Some may say that the dark areas of the map are too dark (like the rafters). Whilst it means that snipers can hide up there quite easily, it also means they can't see anyone coming to get them. Whilst play-testing this map to of us where both up in the rafters looking for the other player down below, and it was only when I looked down and saw my friend's RPG pointing down into the level that I realised I was standing next to him. There is no ammo in the rafters, so snipers have to come down at some point to re-arm. There is a hole in the fan room ceiling, as when we were first play-testing my friend stayed in there the whole time after dropping satchel charges by the door.

I hope you have fun playing this map. I'm currently working on my second level and trying to get 3D Studio MAX 1.2 so I can make my own models. If you have any comments, questions or praise please e-mail me, if I've made a huge mistake in the level its best to know before doing it again, and if you like my level its a big ego-boost for me.

Thanks

Fulby
